LOUDOUN SOCCER

FUN INTEGRITY FAIRNESS TEAMWORK STEWARDSHIP

CHALLENGE PROGRAM

The Loudoun Soccer Rec Challenge program is available to Grade 3 and 4 (Challenge 1) and Grade 5 and 6 (Challenge 2) players who are more experienced and are more seriously focused on soccer, and for players (and parents) who are willing to make a stronger commitment to prioritizing development above the social aspects of youth soccer.

The primary differences between the Recreation and Challenge divisions are the level of play and the distances to travel for away games. Coaches for Challenge teams are volunteers.

Challenge is
NOT for new or inexperienced soccer players; Rec 2 is a more appropriate program for beginning players.

CHALLENGE (Grades 3 - 6)

Challenge Division Expectations:

  • Families must register before the deadline.
  • Families must choose their nearest Town of Play to their home address.
  • Teams will be formed by Town/Region:
  • Ashburn
  • Leesburg
  • Purcellville
  • South Riding
  • All efforts will be made to place players on a local team; if teams in the local Town of Play are full, a player may be placed on a team outside of their Town of Play.
  • Special requests (specific coaches, teammates, etc.) are NOT considered. Players who wish to change teams may be transferred to a Rec 2 team if space is available.
  • Because teams play inter-regional games (Ashburn vs. Leesburg, South Riding vs. Purcellville, etc.), additional travel within the county may be required for games.

program format:
Practices:

  • Mon-Fri 2x per week
  • 5-6pm / 6-7pm
  • Local fields within your Town of Play

(days/times will vary based on coach's request.)

Games:  Saturdays (game times and locations will vary)

Uniforms:

A jersey is included in the registration fee and will be distributed to the team by the head coach.

Equipment:

Families provide their own equipment, including soccer ball (size 4), soccer cleats, shin guards, a water bottle, and other items.

Volunteer Coaches:
Enthusiastic and experienced volunteer coaches are needed to oversee our Challenge teams. While most of our volunteer coaches are parents coaching their child’s team, anyone can volunteer to give back to the game and to their community.

CHALLENGE PLAYOFFS:
All teams will participate in an end-of-season, single-elimination playoff with multiple brackets. Awards will be given to the first and second place team in each bracket. Playoff details and structure will be communicated to teams and families later in the season.
