ESPECIALLY FOR ATHLETES

Youth competitors can face unique mental health challenges. The organizations below address the specific experiences of young athletes:

  • The Athlete Helpline. The Courage First Athlete Helpline serves athletes, former athletes, parents, coaches, and sports communities through crisis response, mental well-being intervention, informational resources, and reporting guidance for concerns about emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. Courage First’s team of athlete-centered counselors offer confidential assistance through calls, text, and online chat.

  • Morgan's Message. Athletes understand that there is no shame in seeking physical healthcare. The same should hold true for mental healthcare. Through advocacy and ambassador programs, Morgan's Message seeks to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental healthcare in order to close this gap.

  • The Hidden Opponent. This community is a safe space for all student-athletes to feel heard, supported, and loved, providing free access and support from mental health professionals and experts in this field.
